Infinite Realities Excerpt Twenty-One by Ken David Stewart

Twenty-One of Infinite Realities:
For Rick Chandler this was a dream that had virtually come true. Darren was right. Even though this experience didn’t happen in his default reality, he could feel the emotional rush exactly as if it was really happening. What was even better was that Rick was able to experience this adventure from a fourteen years olds perspective. He had all the energy and hormones of a real teenager. For a brief period in time he would be able to enter another dimension where he was no longer living in an old person’s body and was suffering all the aches and pains that seemed inevitably to accompany living to the age of sixty-two.
Rick’s sexual desire was back in a way that he had long forgotten. This was another insult that one had to endure as they reached their golden years. He was almost mesmerized by the sexiness of Mikaela, their road manager and chauffeur for the evening. Mikaela had beautiful long strawberry blond hair. She was wearing a cherry red tank top and very tight stone wash jeans. Mikaela wore shimmering silver earrings that almost blinded Rick when a ray of reflected sunlight reflected off them. Rick knew that he was too young for Mikaela. Girls in high school always dated guys a couple of years older than they were. But what the heck, Rick would enjoy his daydream while it lasted.
The white van pulled up to the back entrance of River Heights Community Club. The recreation center’s part time caretaker, Slim Owens guided Mikaela as she backed the van to a spot where the band would have just enough room to unload the equipment. Slim was in his early seventies and he still enjoyed working at the community center. He liked young people and figured that keeping in regular contact with youth would increase his own longevity.
The band even had an unofficial volunteer roadie named Adam Roberts. Adam was a big kid about fifteen years old. Just last year Adam’s parents had bought him a bench press and a set of weights for Christmas as well as a Joe Weider resistance training manual. From this guide Adam learned all the basic exercises to turn himself into a weight lifter. As Adam had good genetics and his testosterone levels were high, within two months and with a lot of hard training, Adam had started to develop an impressive muscular physique. This made him a natural choice to be a band’s roadie. Adam liked being a roadie as it gave him some extra status in his local high school. He felt pride when kids would say that the big gut was ‘with The Band’. Adam also felt a strong attraction to Mikaela.
“You guys just go in the club and get yourselves a Coke. I can get all your gear in myself,” Adam said.

Infinite Realities Excerpt Eighteen by Ken David Stewart

Episode Eighteen of Infinite Realities:

David texted back:

No Darren. I don’t feel like being Damien Echols today. I’ll tell you what I’ll do with the tablet today. I’m going to activate the time travel app again. I want to go back to the summer of 1965.

Darren texted back:

Go for it. As long as you have the tablet in your possession you can use it in any way you desire.

“There are some things I want to know about the tablet,” David texted.

David could now hear Darren’s voice coming from the tablet. I’m getting tired of texting back and forth. From now on let’s communicate through the Skype app on our tablets.

As David found the app on his tablet he could now see an image of Darren on the touchscreen.

“Hey Rick. Now you get to see what I look like. That’s not entirely true. The corporation has created a virtual image taken from hundreds of other people’s picture. So. In a way, you are seeing a collage, not the real me. Technology is amazing, isn’t it? What would you like to know about the tablet?”

“How long do I get to keep it?”

“As long as you want it. However if it leaves your possession for any reason you will not be issued a new one.”

“How could it leave my possession?’

“In various ways, someone might steal it from you. You might misplace it. It might accidently or intentionally get broken. And, of course, the corporation reserves the right to take it away from you if it decides that you are violating any of the terms and conditions of the contract.”

“What terms and conditions?”

“The User’s Agreement that came into effect the second that you picked up the tablet. This is a default feature of the product.”

“Hold on Darren. I didn’t know about any Users Agreement or any terms and conditions.”

“Come on, Rick. You know that no one actually reads those things. They are in small print and take too long to read. People just scroll through them and check off the box that says ‘I agree’. Don’t worry. The corporation’s legal department has gone over the contract with a fine tooth comb.”

“I have another question for you Darren. The Time Travel app allows me to visit different times in history. While I am using this app can I actually change the outcome of significant historical events?”

“Only in the virtual sense. In reality nothing will change. The corporation is not God. It can only create experiences limited only by the user’s imagination. You were chosen as one of the five select people to receive a tablet because we know that you possess a creative mind well beyond most of your peers. It’s evident in your writing.”

Infinite Realities Episode Eight by Ken David Stewart

Episode Eight of Infinite Realities:
“Please to meet you Rick. What the hell just happened? This isn’t Altamont. That isn’t Jefferson Airplane on stage.
“We’re in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, my home town. That’s The Guess Who performing on the stage.”
“I know they’re playing ‘American Woman’, my favorite song. But how did we get here? This is really freaking me out Rick. Am I just having a bad dream or am I tripping?”
“I suspect it isn’t a dream because I’m having the same one as you are. As for the drugs I don’t know what you’re on.”
“Mescaline,”
“I don’t think that our experience has anything to do with dreams or drugs. An app on my tablet created this experience,” Rick said.
“What’s an app and what’s a tablet?” Athena asked.

“A tablet is a technological device that can scan the internet and the individual apps on it do all sorts of cool things.”
“Now I have absolutely no idea what you’re talking about. It’s like we come from two different planets.”
“That’s closer to the truth than you think. In this dimension I’m twenty-two years old. I’ve travelled through time to the year 1969. In my real life I’m sixty-two years old and live in the year 2015. There’s an app on my tablet that allows me to travel through time. I can’t show you my tablet here because if some people in the crowd saw it they would all want to play with it and that would put both us and them in danger.”
“Okay Rick. I give up. I think you’ve gone mad but I’m coming along for the ride. I may as well enjoy it. Let’s meet some people. They look and dress like my friends in San Francisco. They must be freaks.”
“Good idea. These people are very friendly. I used to hang out with a crowd like this when I was in my early twenties.”
Rick and Athena walked over to a group of five people sitting in a circle. The Guess Who were closing their set with their first hit single, ‘Shakin’ All Over’. The audience applauded and thanked the band to show their appreciation for the free concert. I figure that The Guess Who were just curious to see the freaks at Memorial Park.fantasy image 2

Infinite Realities Excerpt Six by Ken David Stewart

Episode Six of Infinite Realities:

As soon as the audio message was over the touch screen changed. The background color changed to black and a new set of apps and icons appeared. Bill briefly scanned the touch screen determined to figure out how this unusual tablet worked. The first app that caught his eye was one called Time Traveller. After Bill touched this app a menu screen appeared that displayed a series of options. The first option that appeared was Select the Date. The next option was Select a Location in Your Universe. The app then asked whether or not Bill wanted to be part of the experience. The next question asked if Bill wanted an historically accurate experience or if he wished to alter it using his own imagination and input. Bill picked the option of using his own mind to alter and rearrange the experience. Bill typed in a message that indicated that he wanted to be at the Altamont Speedway in December of 1969 the day of The Rolling Stones free concert.Fantasy-14

Where Wrestling, Time Machines and Tomfoolery All Collide

Author’s Note:
It is now time to bring back two characters from a previous play, The Escaped Convict. The two characters are Steve Wyler and Harry O’Finsky. In my last play, Steven Wyler and Harry

O’Finsky are in a wrestling match with Hulk Hogan and Jake the Snake Roberts. There is mass chaos breaking out in the ring. Steve Tyler grabs Harry O’Finsky who is disguised as the Masked Mauler. The two convicts run backstage and enter an old storage room near the back of the arena.

Steve: We’ll be safe in here for a little while, Harry. I had to get you out of the ring before we both got arrested and even killed. As I was looking around the arena I saw the Warden as well as those two cons we stole the smokes from last month.

Harry: Man, its mighty dark and dusty in this old shed. Hey, Steve, look over there. What’s that big fancy wheel with all the fancy
colors?

Steve: I don’t know. Let’s check it out.

Harry: Wow, this thing is cool, Steve. It looks like some kind of antique car. It has two seats, a lever and a dash that’s all lit up.

Narrator: Steve and Harvey get into the seats of the car. Harry can’t resist pushing some buttons on the dash and pushing the lever forward. In a few seconds, the vehicle starts to shake and rattle and all Harry and all Steve can see is a swirling kaleidoscope of colors. In a few minutes their vehicle crashes in a farmer’s field.

Steve: What just happened? Where the heck are we?

Harry: Hey, look what it says on the dash. It says location Roswell, New Mexico, year 1947.

Steve: Harry, we just took a trip in a time machine! What luck! Who would’ve thought of a better escape?

Gary: Ha! Ha! I bet the Warden and Sam and Charles are looking all around the arena for us right now. Ha! Ha!

Steve: I can just see those two guys now. Sam and Charles running around all over the arena looking for us and the Warden and the guards chasing after them.

Harry: Meanwhile we’re in a different state fifty years in the past!

Steve: Man, I’m getting pretty hungry. We need to find a truck stop. Maybe if we do some walking around we’ll find a highway.

Harry: Good idea. We’ll wait for a trucker on his way into town.

Narrator: Jim, the security guard is now driving down the highway on his way to Corona to get the General his burgers, pepperoni sticks and cigars. He sees two hitch hikers trying to thumb a ride. Jim stops to pick them up.

Jim: Howdy boys, I’m going as far as Corona. Will that help you out?

Harry: It sure will. Are there any restaurants in Corona? We’re really hungry.

Jim: Well, there’s a Burger King and a 7-11. It’s about a two hour ride to Corona from here. If you guys are really starving I’ve got a couple of old, stale boxes of Animal Crackers in the car. Well, hop in boys. I’m running an errand for the General.

Steve: Thanks a lot, man. We really appreciate it.

Narrator: Harry and Steve get in the back of Jim’s old Volkswagen Bug. The two convicts introduce themselves to Jim.

Jim: Hey, Harry. How come you’re wearing wrestling trunks and boots?

Harry: Well, during my last match, two criminals broke into the dressing room and stole all my street clothes.

Jim: Man, you really have to be some kind of low life to steal another dude’s clothes. It’s really gets hot in the daytime but by nightfall it’s awful chilly out in these parts. We’ll find you a new set of clothes when we get back to Corona. It won’t be easy though, Harry. You’re a pretty big guy.

Steve: Harry’s stage name is the Masked Mauler. Put on your mask Harry.

Jim: Man, that mask is cool! When’s your next match?

Steve: I’m the Mauler’s manager. We’re out here scouting for a new territory for the Mauler to wrestle in. He’s barred from all our old territories because he has a nasty habit of hanging promoters over the

bridges of local rivers. Mauler gets really upset when promoters don’t book him in the main event. I’m going to register Harry for some anger management classes in the fall. Hey, Jim, do you know of any wrestling promoters out in these parts?

Jim: Yeah I do, General Kane. He’s the guy I’m running this errand for. He says that these wrestling cards are good for the troop’s morale. I’ll tell you what. You buys boys ride back with me to Roswell after I finish this errand. The General might be interested in booking the Masked Mauler. He likes to book wrestlers with lots of attitude.

Steve: Gee, Thanks Jim. We could sure use the work.

Jim: One thing I should warn you about. General Kane doesn’t believe that wrestling is fake. He wants to see plenty of blood and pile drivers done right on the cement floor outside the ring. Real hardcore Mick Foley type of wrestling.

Harry: Well the General has nothing to worry about. I’ll give him all the blood, guts and pile drivers he wants. Good to know that some people up there know the truth. Wrestling is not fake!

Chapter 24 of Roswell Revisited, A Play

Narrator: While waiting for Hoss, Harvey starts pulling some of the cactus prickles out of his backside. He turns around quickly to hear rattling and hissing sounds behind him.

Hoss: Watch out Harv! There’s a big rattler coiled up and ready to strike, right behind you. Don’t worry I’ll try to scare him off.

Narrator: Hoss hurls the roll of toilet paper at the rattlesnake. This just startles the snake. The rattlesnake retaliates by biting Harvey in the backside.

Harvey: Hoss, get me to the Roswell Hospital fast! I need to get a shot of the antidote for the snake venom.
